HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Much catching up to do with the last several months of our blog, but I had to post this video of Fisher (taken 1/4/11). :) All is great with the Stevens family.... busy, happy, enjoying life. After tonight's snow storm, our snow fall (so far) for January will be right around 40 inches! Heading to Jacksonville to see Di Di, Gramps & friends this Friday. Happy 2011 to everyone!

January highlights, quotes, conversations:

Fisher
  • crawling, pulling up on EVERYTHING & walking around the furniture
  • stats-- 22 lbs 4 oz, 30.25 inches
  • clapping his own hands & ours too
  • plays peek-a-boo with my hands (places my hands over my eyes, then pulls them away)
  • when asked "how big is Fisher?", grabs our hands to lift them up for "so big"
  • finally enjoys books for reading, not eating
  • adores big sis
  • loves to snuggle with us & his froggy from Aunti Cora
  • vocab: da-da-da-da, ma-ma-ma-ma, ba-ba-ba-ba
  • squeals, grunts & does the motorboat
  • great actor (shows all the signs of being ready for a nap... we lay him down, close the door, check the monitor, find him standing up & squealing)

Lily

  • potty training! our sticker chart system is working great. she is so proud, "I DID IT!" we still have a long way to go, but so far so good.
  • First trip to the dentist!
  • "I'm big. I'm small. I'm big. I'm small" (looking at herself in the back of a spoon, bringing close to her face, then far away)
  • when talking to Mickey: ".... to make your dreams come true."
  • composer of the following song: "you must get on the bal-o-we! you must get on the bal-o-we!" she sings this while running circles around the kitchen table, drumming on an empty formula can
  • Lily: "It was no use." Momma: "what was no use?" Lily: "Fisher."
  • "see Momma? the pointers show us the way." (arrows)
  • "Woody, you are famous." (her Woody doll from Toy Story)
  • Lily is doing a great job as big sister... learning to share, giving us warnings when Fisher is about to get into something (okay, maybe at times she is actually telling on him), being patient when we need to care for his needs first, worrying about him when he cries, etc.
  • and then there are moments like this one... Lily (from the backseat): "NOOOOOOOOOO!" Momma, laughing (maybe inappropriate): "what was that??" Lily: "he's looking at me!" I look in the rearview mirror to find Fisher looking over at his sister, with the sweetest smile on his face...
  • "doggy is not dancing. he is just laughing. I do not understand him." (toy dog from Di Di that rolls around on the floor, laughing like crazy when you come near him)
  • "ready, stay, look at me go!"
  • knows how to navigate the iTouch better than Momma.... Tozzle app. is her favorite (puzzles).
Sarah
  • as of this week, now working only Mondays as a nurse in hem/onc clinic
  • working part-time (15 hrs/wk) for camp as "Program Support"-- helping process staff applications as they pour in, coordinate (not conduct) background checks, etc.... loving it so far & able to do most of the work from home!!
  • really thinking hard about starting to exercise
  • getting back into reading for enjoyment (a favorite pastime, that has been a low priority for too long)
Scotty
  • snow skiing trip last weekend with Garret & friends in Vermont!
  • snowplowing/shoveling our driveway, walkway, & deck like it's a new hobby
  • it may be Winter, but plans for Summer at camp are well under way
  • upcoming fishing trip with JP, Garret & friend (who I cannot list because he is famous), in southern FL.... stay away, paparazzi
  • Me: "what else should I say?" Scotty: "Foldin' laundry all the time & runnin' this household."
